Description
Durbanites can look forward to a sparkling taste of SA's best bubblies
“Come quickly, I am drinking the stars”, to quote the legendary 17th Century Benedictine Monk Dom Perignon, when having his first sip of Champagne.
You too can come and taste the South African bubbly stars at this year’s inaugural KwaZulu-Natal bubbly festival on 27 and 28 April at Makaranga Lodge in Kloof and at The Piggly Wiggly at Howick in the Midlands.
Meet their legendary winemakers who will be there to show you why South African Cap Classique is the fastest growing wine in South Africa. Taste a collection of award-winning bubblies, such as the 5-Star Platter Winner Colmant Brut Reserve, the 40-year-young grand old lady of Cap Classique – Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel, Graham Beck Brut (drunk by Barak Obama to celebrate his winning the USA presidential race), to more niche bubblies such as ex-Durbanite Nick Davies’ Morena Brut and Rosé, Durban based Sharon Parnell’s Domaine des Deux, Silverthorne – the Greenman, to name but a few of the producers who will be there to titillate your taste buds.
With more than 30 bubbly producers showcasing a selection of their finest produce, this is a star-studded date not to be missed. So put on your glad rags and come spend the afternoon and evening tasting the stars.
Tickets for both events cost R180 per person, which includes a complimentary bubbly glass and 10 tasting coupons. Food will be on sale and you will be able to purchase your favourite bubbly to take home. Tickets are available from www.webtickets.co.za. Pre-booking is essential as numbers are limited.
