The Keurbooms River Nature Reserve lies just outside of the popular holiday town of Plettenberg Bay.

Access to the reserve is very easy; simply turn left up the ferry road as you cross the Keurbooms River bridge heading out of Plettenberg Bay. The river flows through the middle of the small reserve and offers visitors a beautiful place to enjoy some great water activities. Further upstream you'll find pristine nature as the river flows through deep mountain valleys of spectacular Knysna forest and fynbos. The wildlife is elusive, but if you're lucky you might spot some buck, caracal, or maybe even leopard. Mongooses and vervet monkeys are quite common in the area. The bird life is rather prolific and can be very rewarding for bird watchers.

Water activites include boating, canoeing and even skiing. Braai and picnic facilities are provided under the shade of bank trees. Some spots can only be reached via boat further upstream however, but luckily canoes can be hired at the reserve entrance. For a little adventure, consider taking the Keurbooms Canoe Trail.
