Start warming up for the hottest summer party season the Mother City has ever seen. The Cape Town Summer holiday events campaign will kick into high gear on December 12 with the first twilight Race Day at the Kenilworth Racecourse. The theme for the Race Day is White Knights, and the dress code is white and very sexy. The signature event of the campaign will start at 3pm and run until 11pm. The Race Day will feature a packed schedule of entertainment and activities, including music and comedy by some of South Africa’s most prestigious acts, in addition to the main event of the race itself.

The day will culminate with live performances by some of South Africa’s top bands. The groups include Langa-based African Jazz group Abavuki, acclaimed fusion band Coda, who will release their newest album on November 28, as well as rockers Flat Stanley, who have just signed a major European record deal. There will be a demarcated hospitality village for companies to entertain clients as well as their staff, a fully catered food and refreshment stalls for the public, as well as a beer garden. In addition, the V&A Waterfront Craftmarket will set up a Christmas-themed craft market especially for the day. Sponsors Peroni and Goodhope FM will be present to add to the festive atmosphere, with the latter doing a live broadcast at the Race Day. The radio station’s personalities will be in attendance throughout the day, where the public will get to rub shoulders with them.

Professional oriental dancing, comedy in the form of a performance by the successful stage production Let’s Mix It, and DJ’s will be playing music throughout the day. Ticket Prices for the diverse day of entertainment will be R75 per person, and that includes a betting voucher so attendees can join in the fun of the actual race at least once. There will also be prizes on offer, including flights to anywhere in South Africa, and rides in luxury vehicles.
