Our stay was too short to explore Kempton Park, but found Bredell to be well kept, as well as the Rhodesfield Gautrain station - very clean and secure. The roads were of a good standard as well.

Tell me about your place... I mention Kempton Park. A place of style, laughter, peace, security and fun. I liked how its structured and built, all your needs are met at any time. From fuel to food. Accommodation is everywhere at a reasonable price. I visit the casino often either by meeting or leisure and u walk out there going into a lovely environment always treating you with a smile. From gov cleaner's to MP's around that area respect is mutual and no one is above the law. I love Kempton Park and will always visit the area.

Kempton Park is the gateway into South Africa through OR Tambo International Airport. Kempton Park is a large town situated on the East Rand in Gauteng, South Africa. Kempton Park was established in 1903 when Karl Wolff sub-divided a portion of his Zuurfontein farm into residential stands and named the new village Kempten after the Bavarian town of his birth. Soon after, the name was anglicized into Kempton Park. In 1952 the Jan Smuts Airport was built on the land next to the town. The airport's name was changed to Johannesburg International Airport in the late 1990s and to OR Tambo International Airport in 2006. Attractions near Kempton park include visits to Soweto, the Nelson Mandela Family Museum and the Hector Pieterson Museum. Pretoria is also 40kms away and the Lesedi Cultural village is only 1 hr drive. Kempton Park is therefore centrally located to all the Major attractions Gauteng Province has to offer.

Prof. John Kasarda, has described Rhodesfield, a suburb of Kempton Park, as a 'gold mine', and the most lucrative and strategic area to reside and work in. He added that Rhodesfield would become regional, corporate headquarters with five star health and wellness clusters and a high quality residential area. Rhodesfield is centrally located to the Gautrain, O R Tambo International Airport, the railway station and Kempton Park. The Gautrain, is Africa's first world-class rapid rail and bus service link, to the airport, Johannesburg and Pretoria, and soon, to Park Station. The airport, less than 3.5 km's from Rhodesfield, has the capacity for 28 million passengers annually. The Premier and Protea Hotels and other guestlodges are located in Rhodesfield. In the vicinity is the Festival Shopping Mall, with restaurants, movies and an ice-skating rink. The Arwyp Medical Centre, in Kempton Park, open 24/7 caters for many overseas travellers. The Family Fitness Centre, is an upmarket gym and the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere. Emporer's Palace Convention Resort, with fabulous hotel accommodation and a casino, also has cinemas, a day spa and theatres for dance extravaganzas, musicals, plays, cabarets and live bands. Kempton Park is the place to be.

Kempton Park boasts over 5 major high schools, numerous entertainment and sporting facilities and is just minutes away from large shopping malls as well as many other amenities. Accommodation facilities here are superb and ideally situated as it is very close to the international airport. Experience tasty foods in one of their many fine restaurants or spend the evening sipping refreshing cocktails at a trendy nightspot. Kempton Park is next to one of the largest townships in South Africa known as Tembisa. It also boasts a large industrial zone known as Spartan which holds many chemical manufacturing and other industrial sites. In addition, Kempton has a large coal power plant known as "kelvin power station". Kempton Park is a quaint residential suburb with marvelous amenities and generally, a great place to settle down.

I was at first a little bit worried because at night it feels dangerous to see that you are staying next to the industrial sites, but I was surprized by the quietness and the beautifull place where we did stay. It is just far enough from OR Tambo so that the noise do not disturb you at night.

There are s variety of restaurants in Kempton Park from family restaurants, Mediteranian and Italian restaurants to Portuguese and Indian restaurants. Personally I prefer Jose's in Ballod Mall for the excellent choice of foods and top quality service. For the younger people, I would recommend Capello's for a good vibe and some sushi. The pub at the Dros in Cavendish Square in Monument Road is very lively and a mix of old and young people enjoy the vibe. They have good choices for burgers. Tribes Restaurant at Ceasers Palace is also very popular and apparently their steaks are very good.

If you have a limited budget and need to be close to the airport, Kempton Park is the place to be. The residential area seems to be quiet and safe.
