Kabale is one of the most scenic towns in Uganda, with green, interlocking hills, that range from 1,219 metres to 2,347 metres above sea level that surround the town, and with beautiful terraces of farms and numerous valleys. Kabale and nearby Lake Bunyonyi are one of Uganda's major tourist attractions with superb scenery. Lake Bunyonyi is a deep serpentine lake of volcanic origin and is safe for swimming, being bilharzia free.
