Hikkaduwa has been a firm favourite with surfers and independent travellers since its hippy hangout origins during the 70s. Along with brilliant surfing conditions, there’s superb diving and snorkelling. The vibe is young and lively, with numerous restaurants, bars and shops near the beach.
