Beauties and beasts are wheeling it to Hermanus this September. Whether you’re into Golden Oldies, Harley Davidson’s or bad boy Modern Machines, take her for a spin… and the wife too!
If you’re a classic car owner or enthusiast don’t miss this popular show taking place on the sports grounds of the Hermanus Primary School on Saturday 27 September 2008. The show has grown from 66 classics in 2002; numbering 297 cars, 29 veteran tractors, 12 veteran stationary engines and 15 classic motorcycles at last year’s show. If the weather is hale and hearty, organisers expect 350 cars from Cape Town, the West Coast, Helderberg, Boland, Northern and Eastern Cape, and as far as Gauteng. Prizes will be awarded in three categories, i.e. 1920 to 1939, 1940 to 1949, and 1950 to 1979 for a “Whale Car” and a “Whale Calf Car” as runner up, in each category.
The highlight of the show is the “Cars and Fashions through 6 Decades 1920 to 1975.” The occupants of each car dress to the corresponding decade. All cars participating will be open tourers, roadsters, sport models and convertibles. A parade of these cars will be taken through Main Street and Marine Drive between 9.30 and 10am.
