The Overberg puts on a feast of top-notch local Afrikaans talent in music, art, poetry, comedy and drama at the annual Kalfiefees this August. Showcasing an art route of 22 galleries, one of the highlights is an exhibition of work from emerging talents out of Zwelihle township.
On the music scene is a great line up of talented Afrikaans performers ranging from Viljoen Retief (of KKNK, Aardklop and Rittelfees fame) to Chris Chameleon and opera stars staging a joyful afternoon of opera arias. Renowned author André P. Brink will be hosting discussions with Gerrit Geertsema and other interesting personalities.
Have more than a few good laughs at A Teacher in the Bushveld, a new humour and drama filled play that explores Bosman’s life as a school teacher in the Marico Bushveld as well as Die Naaimasjien with Sandra Prinsloo and other side splitting comedies.
Don't forget your dancing shoes for the Groot Saterdagaand-Jol where you can langarm the night away to the best boeremusiek South Africa has to offer.
