Description
Visit the Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij and witness the age old Dutch method of making Boerenkaas.
Thirty different cheeses are produced here - gouda in different stages of maturity, cumin or Leidse kaas, stinging nettle cheese, garlic and onion cheese, pepper cheese, feta, herb feta, cheese spread, nut cheese, and Italian herb cheese are just a few.
The cheese is matured in large walk in fridges adjoining the Kaasmakerij. Most cheeses are sold at the farm shop, as well as picnic baskets to enjoy on the banks of the Skeerpoort River or dam.
Shadowed by the magnificent Magalies Mountains, the outdoor restaurant is a great spot to have breakfast or a cheese lunch whilst watching the abundant bird life visiting the dam.
