So you thought ice was only to be placed in drinks? Think again as you watch Ice Art carve a magnificent ice sculpture as part of regular “Art on the Piazza” on Sunday 30 November. From 11am to 4pm relax over coffee or brunch and view the wide selection of popular abstract and contemporary artworks and photography at this ever- growing, bustling art exhibition.
Well known artists Beryl Erikson, Fiona Hart, Richard Scott, Annett Sobotta, Tuesday Houston, Philip Briel, Tay Dall, Andrew Sutherland, Abe and Riaan demonstrate their bold brush strokes and strong colours - the hallmarks of some of this gallery’s focus on top South African abstract and contemporary art. Additionally many more artists have joined the exhibition giving patrons to the Cape Quarter a unique opportunity of viewing unusual and desirable artworks in a leisurely atmosphere.
Photographic works from Paul Perton, post graduate Michaelis students Robyn Turner and Esti Strydom, who have exhibited internationally, plus unique jewellery from Phillippa Green join a host of works creating a wide ranging exhibition. Philip Mbusi’s fabulous wall hangings offer a different perspective and a wide selection of artists to offer an exhibition that brims over with local talent. Cape Quarter offers live entertainment through the week and a leisurely weekend venue where the best food, art and music makes it the happening place to chill.
