Want to go wild this June? How about cuddling a big snake, nuzzling a lion cub or buying a rhino?
Venture out to Kirkwood in the Eastern Cape and have a joll at the Wildlife Festival. The festival offers an exciting mix of conservation, eco-tourism, wildlife and entertainment.
Kick it off with a wild night in the Sundays River Valley at the Steve Hofmeyer concert on Thursday, 26 June. Be sure not to miss this "afskop" konsert! It's one of the highlights of the Sundays River social calendar. Reserve your table now – evening starts at 19:00 and ends when you go home! The following days will see musical line ups from more than 30 artists, including big names like Freddy Mong, Die Drie Stoutstes, Bobby van Jaaarsveld, Jakkie Louw, Emo Adams, Patrick Lindoor, Arno Jordaan, Nicholas Louw, Juanita du Plessis, Bok van Blerk, Eclipse and Tobiy Jooste. Bring your cowboy boots & hat!
Stroll past stalls stacked with gourmet food to superb wines, while your kids get supreme entertainment. Maybe you still need some bokkies for your front garden? Make sure to attend the biggest game auction in the Eastern Cape that weekend. If you fancy offbeat activities, let your friends challenge you on the 4x4 routes and quad trails. Or what about the Boerboel dog show? The Koedoedrolverspoeg? Or maybe you prefer to just pat the mascot’s head: Cynie, a life-size animatronic Cynognathus. No fear of heights? Try hurtling down to Mother Earth in the FREE FALL TOWER!
So where's the show? Kirkwood is less than an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth and is bordered by the Addo Elephant National Park.
