Grande Riviere Noire

Grande Rivière Noire, or Black River, is the extensive strip of beachfront flanked by Flic en Flac and Le Morne. Stylish villas and cycling trails have transformed the former marshlands but the star attraction is Black River Gorges National Park, a vast wilderness of dense forest and mountains. This beautiful reserve is home to deer, macaque monkeys, wild boar, giant fruit bats, 9 endemic birds and 3 endangered species, the pink pigeon, the Mauritius kestrel and the echo parakeet.
