Schoemans Cottage (Schoemans Huisie) was built around 1870 on the Waterval Farm near Graaff-Reinet. This quaint little cottage will keep you cool in summer and cosy in winter with its thick rock and clay walls.

The cottage has an en-suite bedroom, a living room and a kitchen. It can accommodate up to four guests and there is no television or cell phone coverage available on this isolated getaway. Waterval is part of a working sheep, cattle and goat farm. There are hiking trails, game viewing, birdwatching and 4x4 routes.

Country Village is a place to unwind, get those kinks out after a long journey, and relax. It is an ideal place for an overnight stay or a short holiday, close to all the major attractions, schools, coffee shops and restaurants. Great care has been taken with each cottage to ensure every comfort and service, which only country-folk know how to provide.

Various options are available; cosy cottages sleeping two or three guests, to larger cottages sleeping four to six guests. All are en-suite, serviced daily and fully equipped. Luxury air-conditioned suites are also available. Barbecue facilities are provided for those who enjoy relaxing around a fire with the sound of crickets and experiencing a meal under the Karoo night sky.

Heather's B&B and Self-catering accommodation is located within walking distance of historical Graaff-Reinet. Arrive as a stranger, depart as a friend and return as a regular. Barry and Heather Vorster welcome you at Heather's.

We offer three comfortable units. Each unit is separate with their own private entrance. All bedding, towels and toiletries are supplied. During the winter months there is an electric under-blanket on all of the beds and a heater in the sitting room. We have two cots available for babies.

All units are non-smoking with an ashtray at the back door of each unit. All units are fully equipped for self-catering purposes and are supplied with tea, coffee, milk, sugar and rusks for morning refreshments. Guests can either enjoy a self-catering or a bed and breakfast option. Breakfast is served in the dining room of the main house. There is plenty of off-street parking, a fenced-in swimming pool, a play area for children and a free-standing braai area for each unit.

Graaff-Reinet, the fourth-oldest town in South Africa, is recognized as the home of magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture, and over 220 heritage sites. The past is preserved in four extraordinary museums which hold collections of photographic memorabilia, firearms, artworks and fossils, tracing the story of the Karoo.
