The town is beautiful although some areas need to be cleaned up. The Kamdeboo Park was a good experience. Valley of Desolation was spectacular. The food and service at Polka restaurant was excellent.

The town is very clean and well-kept; we enjoyed delicious meals at Cold Stream and Polka restaurants, the cycling route towards Murraysburg and the Valley of Desolation is a highlight.

Wonderful little town, very peaceful and interesting buildings, museums, antique and gift shops, plus a choice of good restaurants. We wished we were staying another day so we could visit the Valley of Desolation - 14km away - but next time .........

Diether & Renate Gross We could only spend 2 days in Graaff Reinet, but it's worth it to stay there a little longer. The area offers good opportunities for excursions and the gastronomy is highly recommended. Our stay has good memories.

Die rustige, veilige karoo-dorpie waar jy oral heen kan loop, met sy wonderlike gastehuise, restaurante en besienswaardighede kan jou vir dae lank besig hou, en dan moet jy nog tyd maak vir ontspan ook.

It was our first visit to Graaff Reinet and we were rather disappointed. The town seemed drab and dirty. The guest house owner was very friendly and the meal we had at a little restaurant was very good.

What a lovely little town this is, so clean and friendly. Our accomodation was also most comfortable. We would definately stay over here again when passing through.

The old buildings and museums make Graaff Rienet a typical historical town with a great deal of significance in SA. The restaurants are great with the "Homemade Karoo Dishes' on offer. Had a great dinner at Pioneers.

Een zeer leuk stadje met een verhaal! Leuke restaurantjes, mooie gebouwen en vooral een minder gekend Nationaal Park dat zeer de moeite is.

As our first ever visit to Graaff Reinet, we were most impressed with the town and its people, especially our accommodation and the restaurant "Ambience" where we dined. The Jacaranda trees were an amazing sight too.

Defenitely worth at least a 2 day visit and do remember to include a visit the "old" church, the museums, Sovenier shops as well as the most wonderful restaurants -- and i do include a visit to the valley of desolation.

Most beautifully preserved and restored town you will find anywhere. You think you are in rural France or Italy and then you realize that you actually woke up and you were in heaven. It is difficult to compare with any other place. Upmarket version of Clarens Cape style? Much quieter, neater and tidier version of Stellenbosch?

Graaff-Reinet was such a friendly town. Unfortunately we arrived there on a Sunday and couldn't do much tourist things. We found it very clean and piecefull and the B&B where we stayed was excellent. Will go back for more exploring! Overnight Stay in Graaff-Reinet

Graaff Reinet has beutiful historic buildings and we can only hope that their maintanance will be a priority. It is a pity that the museums and especially the Reinet house is closed after 13H00 on a Saturday as we were so much looking forward to visit it. Tourists DO visit Graaff Reinet during the weekend!! Delport and le Roux on Graaff reinet

We stayed over in Graaf-Reinet recently on route to the Eastern Cape. What a beautiful little town! We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the streets and taking in the scenery and historical sites. It is a pity that the town remains relatively poor and that little investment has been made in maintaining some of the key sites. I really hope that this changes so that the town will continue to be as beautiful as it is in future.

We had never seen Graaff Reinet before but to our surprise when we finally reached our destination - an oasis in the middle of nowhere. The town has so much to offer with the historical buildings and quaint houses. The scenery including the Valley of Desolation is amazing. We often stay over when we travel to Cape Town on holiday.

For many travellers Graaff-Reinet is that town about eight hours drive from Guateng where you rest for the night and then you are very close to the next stop - the Cape coast - yipee. But did you know that the town offers seven routes to explore. These routes include Palentolgy (fossils to most of us) Eco trails which includes a new 4x4 trail in the Camdeboo National Park - and I mean 4 x 4, Creative route - visit the artists and watch them at work, Culinary - Karoo slow cooking at it's best, Heritage with five museums which tell the stories of this wonderful town with its most amazing ,diverse and interesting personalities that helped shape our towns history, from way back when, Kids activities which range from fun filled activities arranged by SAN Parks or just getting to know the friendly pets at Noahs Arc animal sanctuary. Birding 220 different birds accounted for with resident Black eagles nesting on the cliffs of the Valley of Desolation. This same Valley has inspired many a photographer to spend hours enjoying the views and spectacular sunsets. This is a town for all seasons and the "locals" are always willing to share a tale or two. Don't be fooled by the seemingly quiet apearance of the town - Graaffies "Rocks" to a unique rythym - You just need to spend time here - relax, take a deep breath of the fresh Karoo air - and you will be hooked for "keeps"

Graaff-Reinet is a town known for so many historical events and sites. For city dwellers the hospitality and friendliness is superb. There are many sites nearby such as Owl House in Nieu Bethesda and the Valley of Desolation. Recommend a Guest Farm to stay at near Graaff-Reinet and you have the best of both worlds. Graaff-Reinet also can claim some of the best schools in South Africa.

One of the most beautiful towns in South Africa. So many places to see if you love our history and culture. Surrounding towns, eg. Nieuw Bethesda also well worth a visit. Good to see that some towns are kept neat despite difficult financial times.
