Our experience at Gordons Bay - Gordons Bay is a lovely place to be in Cape Town. This is our second time in Gordons Bay in the last two years. It is beautiful, quiet and very clean. Sun downers at Ocean Basket on the harbour was absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed it a lot!

Be charmed in quaint Gordon's Bay - Gordon's Bay is a quaint seaside village on the False Bay coast, set against an impressive mountain. Magnificent views over the ocean towards Table Mountain above Cape Town (looking like a "sleeping giant" from here) and the whole of the Cape Peninsula. There are two harbours with yachting and boat cruises, lots of restaurants of all kinds, shopping centres and two warm, safe swimming beaches (one a Blue Flag beach), ideal for children. Lots of water sports. The winelands and golf courses less than 20 km away. Cape Town 1/2 hour's drive. Central to all tourist attractions in the Cape. Come for a relaxing holiday and be charmed!

Magical Gordon's Bay - The 5-star Villa Via Hotel and numerous adjoining restaurants is within easy walking distance of the hub of the quaint seaside village, which also offers weekend markets and numerous seafront restaurants. The reasonably priced guest houses, the tranquility and security, the spectacular north facing views across the entire Helderberg Mountains and False Bay, makes Gordon’s Bay the place to be.

Quiet village - I just enjoyed the view of mountain and sea. I am not one for swimming in the sea. I love the village atmosphere and ate at the Alforno Italian restaurant. Browsed in the huge flea market like shop on the beachfront.

Fantastic - Lovely beaches for family with young kids. Amenities are close by so no need to travel far for shopping, restaurants and laundromat.

Gordon's Bay - Well its not one for beaches. They are dirty and not well looked after. I preferred to travel along the coast for about 20 or 30 minutes to places like Betty's Bay or Pringle Bay for great beaches. Although I did consider it to be in the middle of things and places we wanted to travel too - so I guess it was okay.... I wouldn't stay there again.

The Town With The Best View! - It's a quaint little town nestling the mighty range of the Blouberg mountains. You feel an inner peace settling inside you as you drive into it, quiet, sedate and peaceful. With not much traffic if you stay off the N2, you can get around easiliy enough without getting stuck in queues of traffic. If the wind is calm, the sea has got a beautiful color of blue, not see-through but more a dark blue, and you can smell the sea, which really calms the nerves. If you stay at the Baysaide Hotel, a fantastic sea view will greet you the next morning, or a view of the mountains if you stay in a guesthouse with a north facing window - absolutely fantastic. The many guesthouses offer comfortable accommodation and the hosts make your feel more than welcome. To eat you can get fish and chips at Weskus Fish & Chips, marvelous, or even the Spur right on the beach with waves pounding while you eat. Then of course there is the Surfsie restaurant, right on the water and you feel as though you are eating on a cruise liner - couldn't get any better!!

Gordon's Bay, the Ideal Family Holiday Destination. - Gordon's Bay is well situated for an ideal family holiday, within half an hour of central Cape Town, and its interesting Waterfront, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch to mention but a few attractions, and also ideally situated for the many different interesting Boland towns such as Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Paarl etc,, with their fascinating history. There are also many other attractions, such as beautiful scenery, many different wine routes, wale watching, mountaIn climbing, hiking, surfing, just lazing on the beach and a myriad of other interesting activities, that make this one of the best holiday destinations in South Africa. It is truly a holiday destination that equals the very best!

Where would you rather want to be..... - Gordons Bay has always had its own charm for me. It is such a traditional quaint beach town. The beach promenade shops - selling shells and "Afrikaans Books" the soft serve ice cream places, the Pub across the road from the beach and of course the Sea Food takeways (do NOT miss Trawlers!! Best calamari in the WORLD!!) Bikini Beach is one of my favourite spots in the world and I have spent many an hour playing beach bats and beach volleyball on this little gem. The views - particularly from the area above Bikini Beach - are breathtaking and the sunsets are priceless!! You cannot be in Gordons Bay and not FEEL as if you are on holiday!!! To crown it all, it is a stone's throw from Cape Town, the winelands and the Overberg....

Friendly Gordons Bay - Gordons Bay is a lovely and relaxed environment for any person wishing to break away from city life. It has such a professional approach to people on vacation, that my family and I return there year after year. The sight seeing and facilities (for us) are more than ample for our requirements and we always return to Stilfontein, having been drained of all day-to-day stresses and worries.

Stunning beaches in Gordons Bay - Gordon's bay probably has the best beaches in Cape Town where the water is warmer and more calmer than anywhere else. The beaches are relaxing, clean and spacious.

Proud to live in Gordon`s Bay - They call Gordon`s Bay the Heart of The Fairest Cape, a picturesque coastal village nestled at the foot of the beautiful Helderberg basin and the Hottentots Holland mountains in a unique hamlet of False Bay which is the largest bay in Africa. Hosting the naval college for the training of officers which was founded by General Botha and incidentally, the GB sign on the mountain as many people think this depicts Gordon`s Bay, in actual fact are the initials of General Botha, who started the college. They have open days for visitors and a gala ball once a year. Gordon`s Bay is proud to host the well known Blue flag status Bikini beach next to the old yachting harbour. There is a 2nd new harbour for yachts and restaurants on the boardwalk, one of them being the Bertie Reeds (the world renowned yachtsman) restaurant. The main and Bikini beaches are known for safe bathing. Centrally situated, Gordon`s Bay is a mere 50 km from Cape Town away from the hustle and bustle of the city, of which the main attractions are the V&A Waterfront and the cable car to the top of Table Mountain and for those that enjoy the night life. For wine tasting, a lazy drive to numerous wineries on the wine routes of the Helderberg, Stellenbosch. Paarl and Franchhoek. A beautiful drive takes you along the coastal road, Clarence Drive, to Hermanus with coastal towns along the way on the whale route, which starts in Gordon`s Bay. The whales visit us during July and November. The coastal road is also the start of one of the largest biospheres in the world with beautiful walks and hikes trails in the Harold Porter nature reserve as well as stopping at Betty`s Bay for a visit at the African Jack Ass penguin colony. Above Gordon`s Bay there is the Danie Miller trail. Explore the historic cannon and wagon wheel walk at Sir Lowry`s Pass. Pleasure trips on yachts, and cruisers are available from the two harbours as well as shark cage diving, boating, deep sea fishing, angling. Monkey Town, Blue Rock for diving lessons, paint ball, fun and games are also adjacent to Gordon`s Bay. Excellent restaurants offer a wide range of delights with the emphasis and seafood. Some of the restaurants are situated in and around the two harbours. There are also the more upper class restaurants close by for scrumptious cuisine. Gordon`s Bay is a 6 minute drive to the Strand with its long white beach and 10 minutes from Somerset West with an enormous shopping mall. The views from Gordon`s Bay overlooking False Bay (even Table Mountain) are fantastic not to mention the magnificent sunsets. The town this July hosted the first Winter Wonderland decorated with lights along the main beach shops, houses. There were stalls, music fairs, entertainment for the young and old. The organizers hope to make this a yearly event to attract more visitors to our town. www.winterwonderland.co.za. – http//www.facebook.com/WinterWonderlandGB. The hospitality sector is of an excellent standard with numerous quality guesthouses and self catering apartments. Gordon`s Bay is not just a day at the beach or a drive through but a stay for a break-away, chill out or a wonderful tranquil holiday. We at Harbour View Lodge are privileged to be one of the lovely guesthouses in Gordon`s Bay which is on the slope of the mountain overlooking the entire False Bay. All 5 our rooms are sea facing with this spectacular view.

Gordons Bay, the way it is ment to be - Gordons Bay is a true authentic village, just perfectly situated to explore the area of Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, the Coastal area and the Winelands. You find one of the best blue flagged beaches near the old Harbour were you can have a perfect fish food. Just near Gordons Bay you can visit the beautiful winery of Waterkloof and Journey's End. Looking for an authentic, relaxed and affordable holiday you are at the right place in Gordons Bay.

Stunning resort village with fantastic restaurants - Gordon's Bay is great not only for Cape Town locals but is ideally situated for upcountry or overseas visitors, being central to the Winelands, Waterfront of Cape Town, the Atlantic beach suburbs and also the fantastic coastal drive to places such as Betty's Bay and Hermanus. For golf enthusiasts there are some wonderful courses nearby and we have a fantastic Cable waterski resort within a 10 minute drive with a wonderful restaurant. There are also some wonderful restaurants in Gordon's Bay including the new Zest Restaurant and a lesser known Chinese restaurant which serves divine sushi and delicious Prawn/Avo spring rolls.

Still Olde World charm - Gordons Bay still enjoys a certain Old World charm not seen anymore in the more commercialized bigger coastal towns. It has a very friendly vibe with the people more than willing to oblige.

Beautiful beaches - Bikini Beach is the place to be in the heat of summer when visiting Gordon's Bay. Bask in the sunshine and then cool off in the ocean. Enjoy fantastic views of the ocean and surrounding mountains.

Sun worshippers nirvana - Bikini Beach is the best swimming and sun-tanning beach on the False Bay coastline but it can get crowded in summer. I like hanging out at the old harbour checking out the flotilla of yachts and fishing boats. The scenic coastal route from Gordon’s Bay to Hermanus is a must!
