Blockmans Grill and Bar

Firstly, I want to say that I love the restaurant. When it changed to Blockmans, we were worried that the old legacy would be left behind. To our great excitement, the former Coimbra menu is part of the new fantastic menu. I went there for a birthday lunch on Saturday and I must say that even the Portuguese menu has lifted its game. One will not find better piri piri chicken than that of Blockmans, its incredible. Over the past eight years we have befriended the wonderful and ever-smiling Mozambican staff, Helena and Simone. They are super friendly, efficient, and have huge hearts. Maybe because I'm fluent in Portuguese, I know where they come from and what beautiful people these Mozambicans are. Unfortunately and regrettably on Saturday 18 February 2012, my family and I witness a deplorable encounter in the restaurant. On returning from the toilet, a young manager by the name of Josh was publicly humiliating one of the staff of which I took serious offense. I had strong words with him telling him that I am a customer of eight years and how dare he talk to an older person in that despicable manner. On returning to my table, my 78-year old mother who had also, three minutes previously, returned from the toilet, related a similar story of this young manager mistreating another worker there who I'm not familiar with. My mother was stunned by this despicable behavior. These two incidents left a bad taste in our mouths. This racist, disrespectful guy they have employed, needs to learn a lesson in humiliation as he clearly humiliated people who are the reason why we go to that restaurant. This behavior is unacceptable and incredibly offensive to paying customers and to the good folk being victimized. I only wish the Blockmans' guys incredible success as they are fantastic and I hope and pray that Anthony and team will rectify this unfortunate mishap.
