This is a place where nature does all the entertaining; beautiful, a little wild, natural and peaceful. Our retreat-styled eco lodge nestles on the forest edge and abounds with creativity.
You can choose to stay in little woodcutter cottages that were once stables for our friendly horses or in a spacious converted barn, ideal for family gatherings and retreats, plus a quaint double-storey cottage among a glade of trees that oozes magical charm.
For the more adventurous nature-lover or the eco green conscious traveller, there are simply furnished forest-safari style tents on timber decks in the forest with rustic communal timber huts housing a kitchen and ablution facilities.
While you are here, you can go for early morning walks meandering along winding mossy pathways in our ancient forest where you will hear the rustle of leaves as monkeys scamper along the tops of the trees. You can also have a lazy afternoon with a book at the lotus lily pond set in our park-like gardens alive with bird songs. While dozing under an azure-blue sky you may see the shy emerald green Knysna loerie fly by, and at sunset you can stroll along to our organic vegetable garden to pick some greens for a healthy meal under a starry African night sky.
If you love nature and want to experience a more natural eco environment and don’t need luxuries to enjoy your stay, then you will find Peace of Eden enchanting.
We also have a recording studio where many well-known South African musicians have recorded their award-winning albums, and you may just be lucky enough to be visiting when we have impromptu sunset soiree evenings where you could be entertained by some of our great singers and song-writer guitarists like Nate Maingard, Gary Thomas and blues maestro Dan Patlansky.
We are 15 minutes from Knysna and only 8 km from the N2, on the pretty country road that leads to the Rheenendal village. Beyond the village is a turn-off to the Goudveld Forests, Jubilee Creek, and the historical Millwood Goldmines where you may come across signs of the illusive Knysna elephants that still roam freely in the depths of the vast mysterious Knysna forests.
Our beautiful white, sandy beaches of Buffalo Bay and Brenton on Sea and the Knysna river estuary are a mere ten minute drive away and we are an hour's drive from most of the famous attractions and adventure activities of the Garden Route. The Garden Route it now a national park and one of the safest and most beautiful places in South Africa.
If you are just passing through we are a perfect stopover en route to Addo National Park, the Eastern Cape coastline and the Wild Coast. We have a registered nature guide and offer guided forest and bird walks, township and Knysna tours, and go as far afield as Addo Elephant National Park.
