Description

Gaborone is a bustling modern city, located in the shadow of the Kgale and Oddi Hills in the south of Botswana. Even though it's relatively small, Gaborone is seen as one of Southern Africa's economic success stories.

What makes Gaborone unique is that one can enjoy all the familiar modern conveniences of home, while still being in rural Africa.

Gaborone boasts four shopping malls with cinema's, various hotels, guest houses and restaurants, an international airport, a cultural centre, discos and nightclubs, an art gallery, as well as two golf courses and other sports facilities.

The National Museum of Gaborone has an exquisite permanent exhibition of the historical, natural and cultural history of Botswana. At times there are displays of noveau modern art and sculpture as well. The old part of the city is known as The Village, where remnants of colonial history and architecture can still be seen.

The Mokolodi Nature Reserve is a 300-hectare reserve is a short drive away where one can view white rhino, mountain reedbuck, antelope, zebra, giraffe, hyena and warthog.

Explore some of the many drives in the Gaborone Game Reserve where one can view impala, kudu, ostriches, wildebeest, zebra, gemsbok, eland, and two rescued rhino. It is also an ideal place for avid birdwatchers.
