Nowhere else outside of France is Bastille Day celebrated with reckless abandon than in the gorgeous Franschhoek Valley. Being the French Corner of South Africa, the village celebrates with all things French and that means good food, good wine, good music and the traditional Bastille festival atmosphere with red, blue and white drapes on buildings.
The townsfolk say that they like to commemorate their forefathers by celebrating for an entire weekend! Highlights of the Bastille Festival include a Food & Wine Marquee, a French Film Festival, the Chef’s & Waiters Race, Pêtanque, the Barrel Rolling competition and lots more. Wear your beret, eat, drink and enjoy more than a few good laughs!
