Get to the Urban Voices Poetry Festival this October for an awesome line-up of internationally celebrated poets from Jamaica, the USA and South Africa. The festival consistently draws sell-out crowds and this year’s highlight is a major draw card. Acclaimed dub poets from Jamaica Jean Binta Breeze and Mutabaruka will be taking the stage.
Jean Binta Breeze's work reveals a generous and uncompromising vision, exploring a wide range of personal, social and political issues with a sublimely tuned lyrical sensibility. As an actress, dancer, choreographer and theatrical director, Jean brings all her artistic experience to bear on her work as a poet. She has a striking stage presence, generating all the power and excitement of a full-blown theatrical performance.
Regarded as reggae's foremost poet, Mutabaruka is no foreigner to South Africa’s shores and once again he will grace the Urban Voices stage. Check out www.artsexchange.co.za
