In the heart of the Old Malay Quarter, exclusive De Waterkant Place Guest House is ideally situated, with picture perfect views of Table Mountain, Table Bay and the Waterfront, in one of the oldest, most vibrant, sought-after areas of Cape Town, and only 20 minutes from the airport.

This upmarket residence, with its distinctive and original Bo-Kaap architecture, lies within the unique, historical four-square kilometre area of De Waterkant Village with its quaint, tree-lined, narrow cobbled streets and Old Cape atmosphere.

Beautifully restored and graciously decorated in a Colonial style, De Waterkant Place Guest House offers three levels of well-appointed, spacious rooms, either with en-suite or separate private bathroom. The huge roof-top garden provides panoramic views of both Table Bay, with its busy harbour and waterfront, and the world-famous land mark, Table Mountain.

De Waterkant Place Guest House is conveniently situated within walking distance to the popular V & A Waterfront, Two Oceans Aquarium and Cape Town city centre. Cape Town’s most popular sun-drenched beaches and beach bars are also close by.

Trendy restaurants, coffee shops, delis, chic boutiques and exclusive décor establishments can be found in the immediate vicinity catering to even the most discerning traveller’s tastes.

Come and contemplate the busy De Waterkant Village or gaze at the majestic Table Mountain and sip a sundowner. Mark your days by the firing of the nearby noon day gun, you wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

Perfectly positioned in the very heart of De Waterkant Village, The Charles is a private, intimate and original guest house.
From the roof decks of The Charles, guests can enjoy beautiful city views, especially late afternoons when the city lights up and the evenings come alive.

Positioned opposite the gorgeous al fresco styled Cape Quarter piazza and the flamboyant crowd at Manhattan’s Restaurant and bar, The Charles can be described as being the spirit of the village in a town that surely is the fun capital of Cape Town.

The Charles was originally created by adjoining three adjacent historical houses, whilst maintaining the historical Georgian façade. Each room has an individual positioning and design, and the multi-leveled layout of the guest house is joined by inner and outer staircases.

The interior styling is a mixture of original old Cape Cottage furniture, mostly oak, yellow wood, stink wood and pine, with some contemporary modern and African pieces. Today the style is described as eclectic and creates opportunity for the spaces to develop and flourish over time.

Rooms feature a refreshment station with tea and coffee-making facilities, mini fridge, except in Traveller's Rooms, selected satellite TV, safe, hairdryer, ceiling fans or air-conditioning, built-in wall heaters or on request and DVD player.

Walking down the pretty pavements past Georgian, Dutch and Asian inspired architecture with sunny terraces and flower boxes, one can’t help forgetting that this is the southern tip of Africa.

De Waterkant is just bursting at the seams with great restaurants, gay clubs, salsa clubs, tapas bars, Parisian-style cafés, the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village, and art galleries, designer stores and antique shops. It’s the favourite haunt of Cape Town’s creatives, the gay scene, fashionistas and sophisticated urbanites.
