Food comes to the fore with Cape Quarter Food & Brandy Festival on Friday 13 (this will be your lucky day) and Saturday 14 November from 10am to 5pm.

Make a date to spend those days in the lively company of Giggling Gourmet
Jenny Morris (whose new Cooks Playground opens shortly on 32 Napier Street) and Alchemy of Gold as two days of culinary creativity highlight the tricks of the trade with the chefs and personalities from the myriad of top restaurants and specialist food stores that are on offer at Cape Quarter.

The essence of fine brandy adds to the flair that takes a recipe from good to exceptional and Alchemy of Gold shows you all the tricks to have your guests begging for more. Here’s the chance to see some new ideas and enjoy the fun that Jenny puts into her cookery playground on The Square and The Piazza. Learn new techniques, savour the unique foodie offerings from the Cape Quarter and don’t miss a beat as the tempo rises! From The Piazza to The Square you’ll be spoilt for choice as the various stores present their wares in intriguing and fun demonstrations. This is divine decadence in all its forms!

The unique and varied characters from the Cape Quarter join Jenny Morris on stage to whip up culinary delights: Evan Coosner from Vanilla, Wesley Petterson from Cru Café – Wine Bar and Restaurant, Tazz Samsodien of Voila, Panagiotis Poulopoulos of Kuzina - Eats Greek, Daniel Heyns of Chenin, Hattim Zouhir of Tank Restaurant/Sushi Bar, Johan de Villiers of La Petite Tarte, Lazari and Giovanni Mazzone from BICCCS – all showing their skills as chefs of note.

Then get ready for some interesting tricks
of the trade from Banks Kitchen Boutique and the Culinary Equipment Company. Firm foodie favourites will take you to exotic lands when Fiesta Tapas Café Bar and Andiamo Deli Restaurant &Bar get cooking. All this brilliantly matched with Alchemy of Gold brandy – you’ll learn the essence of brandy and how it enhances those special dishes - you’re in for more than a treat – it’s a mouthwatering menu of irresistible tastes and topics.

From the preparing of fabulous bread to the exotic Moroccan tea pouring ceremony to the mouthwatering treats from The Chocolate Studio…tempting food in all its forms! But that’s not all - see how our contestants in the inaugural Jenny Morris “Can you Chef? Competition battle it out in public for supremacy in the amateur chef competition. Make a date to watch the eliminating rounds before seeing the grand cook off at noon on Saturday.

Artful Food shows our up and coming culinary students using foodie ingredients to create innovative sculptures representing their chosen restaurant there’ll be a few surprises here!!
