Slaapstaders love this one-of-a-kind cinema and this year marks the Labia's 60th birthday. So, get there this mad May and join in the celebration. Not that any of us need an excuse to celebrate the Labia, because really, who wouldn’t love it? The excellent movies, the delicious popcorn and cookies (and alcohol), the great space, the living room atmosphere, the interesting people, the memories, the potential for memory-making, the décor, the lovely folks who work here, the way it feels like home, the way it is home, to so many Capetonians, on a weekly basis.
Apart from screening 20 of the most awesome flicks of all times, what else is on? Movies are so great, aren’t they? I mean, that’s why we’re here, because we love movies. But sometimes, wouldn’t it be nice if there was a little more to the whole movie experience? A bit of a hooha, perhaps? Something to listen to while you sip your beer or wine? Enter the Labia Exchange Celebration events listing! Come experience, explore, exchange ideas… come on, I dare you.
During the two week festival you’ll be able to experience the Guerilla Radicals, people who take what you see on screen and bring it to life. How? Through fashion shows, musical performances, and live acts. Keep your eyes peeled for special guest appearances at events… the weird, wonderful and magical will be out on the prowl. You’ll finally have a chance to interact with and be part of the film experience.
