Champagne Valley is an area of outstanding beauty situated in the Central Drakensberg, a World Heritage Site, and only two hours’ drive from Durban and three and a half hours from Johannesburg. The two highest peaks, Champagne Castle and Cathkin Peak are to be found in this region of the Central Drakensberg.

Cathkin Cottage Bed and Breakfast is conveniently situated, opposite the Drakensberg Sun Resort, in the heart of Champagne Valley and is in close proximity to all local attractions and restaurants, with many hikes starting from the cottage. It is a mere 4 km drive from The Champagne Sports Resort, with Cathkin Farm and Champagne Castle Hotel also in close proximity.

Cathkin Cottage Bed and Breakfast is intimate and offers warm hospitality with comfortable accommodation in well-appointed rooms, all en suite. Each room comprises tea and coffee-making facilities, a mini-bar fridge and is fully serviced daily. The added luxury of down duvets, and cotton percale and sateen bed linen, and fluffy towels makes your stay even more comfortable. The rooms are equipped with fans and heaters and should you require interleading rooms, these are available.

This two-bedroom cottage is set on a farm and is fully furnished. There are two lovely rooms, one bathroom, a comfortable lounge with a fireplace, dining area and small library of books for your enjoyment. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes all cooking facilities, cutlery and crockery. A TV is available with a DVD player. The cottage has a dish but only local channels can be viewed. Guest are welcome to bring along their own decoder if they would like watch satellite channels. In addition the unit has an automatic washing machine for that inevitable laundry day.

Outside guest will find a large patio area with braai facilities. This is the ideal accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and anyone wanting to get away to the country side. Please note the rate displayed is for two people sharing, and is therefore subject to the number of guests staying, hence we advise guests to request the appropriate tariffs.

Ouma Se Opstal is a beautiful, historic residence constructed in 1902. This 100-year old homestead is situated at the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains. It is surrounded by a lush garden offering a tranquil setting for families and groups to relax and unwind.

The house can comfortably sleep eight adults in four bedrooms with a selection of double and single beds. There are four bathrooms that service these rooms, of which one is en-suite. The house is fully equipped for self-catering with a modern kitchen equipped with a microwave, stove and all cutlery and crockery. Adjacent to the kitchen is a cosy breakfast nook, where the family can enjoy meals together. The spacious dining room offers a large dining table seating six, and looks onto the living room with comfortable seating and ceiling fans. A lovely veranda surrounds the house and is acceptable from the bedrooms.

The large garden has ample place for children to play. A number of hiking trails and historical sites surround the area, ready for you to explore and enjoy.

The cottage offers guest three comfortable bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed as well as an en-suite bathroom. Two other bedrooms have two single beds each, and a second shared bathroom, has a bath and a shower. The open-plan kitchen and living area make for convivial evenings, especially in winter, when the gas fireplace makes drinking red wine a must. In summer, fire up the built-in barbecue and enjoy eating outside on the spacious patio with breathtaking views over the lake at the Drakensberg Sun. The cottage has full DStv. All roads are tarred and there are many activities within easy distance from the cottage. Situated safely from the road, Santih has two terraces down and an attractive garden, so your children can play outside and enjoy the fresh air.

Santih has the Drakensberg World Heritage Site at its doorstep. There are numerous walks, ranging from easy half-hour strolls to strenuous hikes. It offers quality accommodation in three lovely Self-catering Cottages that is within minutes of a variety of good restaurants and food supply stores.

In all cottages cotton linen, cosy duvets and towels are provided. Kitchens are equipped with appliances, cutlery and crockery and dining facilities for the number of guests catered for. The open-plan living areas opens onto the barbecue area. The lounges are comfortably furnished and equipped with fireplaces and give access to patios and decks where guests can enjoy a cup of coffee, sundowner, experience beautiful views or do some birding. A washing line and shaded parking are provided at each cottage.

The largest cottage (53) caters for six guests and consists of three comfortable bedrooms. The main bedroom is en-suite and the other two bedrooms share bathroom facilities. The other cottages (49A and 49B) are equipped for two or four guests respectively, all bedrooms are en-suite. Detailed facility list is available on the facilities tab.

Bergview Estate has a variety of animals such as genets, porcupine, grey duiker, mountain reedbuck, grey rhebuck, oribi wildebeest and hares, along with its birds and abundant mountain flowers. Your exciting getaway to the Drakensberg also begins here with its 300 species of birds and 2153 plant species. Vultures View has a unique vulture feeding site where you are likely to see the endangered bearded vulture and many Cape vultures. Treks, Trips and Trails has a beautiful rock pool for swimming, access to the dam for bass fishing and short walks from the various cottages. This luxury self-catering house can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests and comprises three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two of which are en suite, and an open-plan lounge, dining area and a fully fitted kitchen. The first and second bedrooms each contain a double bed, and the third bedroom contains twin single beds. All bedrooms open onto a lovely sunny patio which has panoramic views overlooking Cathkin Peak and the magnificent Drakensberg Range. In addition, there is a double sleeper couch in the lounge that can accommodate two guests. All linen and towels are provided.

Little Acres B&B is centrally situated in the beautiful Champagne Valley in the heart of the Central Drakensberg and adjoining the World Heritage Site. 
We are close to the Champagne Sports Resort and Nest Hotel and easily accessed directly from the R600 (the road from Winterton to Champagne Castle and the Monks Cowl Nature Reserve). Safe parking is provided on our 1 1/2 hectare property, which is secured by an unobtrusive electric fence. All our facilities have been renovated recently and we presently have five beautiful, large, double, guest rooms four of which are furnished with king size beds. Single beds can be provided on request and three of the rooms will easily accommodate an extra single bed should a young child accompany you. Four of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms and the fifth has a private, exclusive use, bathroom adjoining the room.  The rooms are all heated and the bathrooms have under floor heating. In our bedrooms, dining and lounge areas smoking is not permitted, but guests are free to smoke outside where ashtrays are provided on the patios. Full English breakfasts (price included in your package) are served, weather permitting, on the patio, which has a stunning view of the mountains, otherwise we will serve you in our dining room. 
The delicious breakfasts are prepared and served exclusively by your hosts who take pride in spoiling you and setting the tone for a special day in the mountains. We are very close to all the facilities in the Central Drakensberg. One can spend a day in the World Heritage Site exploring the mountain trails, which range from easy half hour walks to more strenuous hikes, which can take several hours. Alternatively one can participate in the many activities nearby which range from white water rafting (in season), quad bike trails, fly fishing and horseback excursions to golf or bowls. Otherwise gravitate to more sedate activities like browsing at one of the many shops, which cater specifically for the needs of tourists or enjoy a cup of coffee and a meal at one of the excellent catering establishments in the vicinity. Then relax in our lovely garden, enjoy the panoramic view, which is focused on Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle and extends from Giant's Castle to Arthur's Seat, and watch the sun set behind the majestic mountains of the Drakensberg. You could also wander down to the banks of the Sterkspruit which flows through our property and enjoy a picnic or sundowner. You might even be lucky enough to see a duiker or reedbuck coming to the river for an evening drink.
