a lovely holiday destination... - We've been holidaying in Simons Town for 4 years in a row because of its ocean views, an easy drive to various destinations, its quietness and the fact that there are numerous guest houses as we mostly travel as a group.
overall it is a great holiday destination...
Bothasig - It unbelievably clean and tidy. It is close to all the various places that one would want to get to. It is not a noisy area either.

Lovely but quiet - Simons Town is a lovely destination and has some very beautiful historic buildings. Also an easy drive into the centre of Cape Town (depending on traffic - about 1 hour) and easy to drive back at night as well. However in the evening the place becomes quiet - if you are looking for a bit more evening entertainment there is no much to do other than restaurants (fish and chips) and a tavern/pub (good place to meet local people). However the positives well outweigh the negatives.

Friendly Fish Hoek - Fish Hoek has a wonderful beach and good shops and restaurants and the people are friendly
Suburb of Atlantic Seaboard South
Serene - Hout Bay is a very beautiful and relaxing town. The wharf is a legend and we discovered the craft market at the harbour. A very vibey place to hang out on a Friday night. I enjoyed that immensely. The view of Hout Bay from Chapman's Peak on a beautiful summers day is too glorious to describe, you just have to go and experience it for yourselves.

Beach Ride - Lovely ride on the beach.

Quiet comfortable area! - Edgemead is a quiet family area. Plenty of trees, pretty gardens. Family homes.
Central wonderful place. - It's great. Everything is in reach, very convenient. Very peaceful, leafy area away from the city centre (10 min drive) but still very accessible.
Strand - Great place. Friendly people. Very clean. Great for the children. Everything within walking distance. Will definitely visit again.

Strand wonderfull place for family holiday - Great town - relaxed with super clean beaches. Great for a family with kids - also very safe. A bit windy but the wind still days makes up for the windy ones. Close proximity to family fun places to visit in the area. Will visit again.
Big Bay Beach - Overall, its a nice place to visit. Safe and friendly.
Ntswaki Mulaudzi South Africa
A true gem - Not knowing much about Durbanville, I was pleasantly surprised. The area is pretty, is close to everything, family orientated, and is only a 20-minute drive to Cape Town proper as well as the airport.
Jorge Marrero South Africa
Clean beach - Superb town with a never ending beach which is kept clean. Yes, the wind does blow and can cause havoc with the sand but it is usually quickly re-distributed.
Strand has some lovely holiday accommodation and would be suitable for all ages, nice restaurants, some shops and chemists, supermarkets, etc.
Nice quiet naighbourhood - For people who want to unwind and relax away from the big city and township noise, Observatory is the place to be.
Fana Nzimande South Africa
Beautiful city - It's a very beautiful and friendly city. I would definitely recommend for any one. Everything you may need is around you. Going to tourist destination is not a hustle.

Scarborough - Awesome views, clean beach, next to Nature Reserve, so you have the best of both worlds.
Bloubergstrand - The area has breath-taking views across the bay. The summer sunset also provides a much needed warming effect to the apartment such that the nights do not get too cold. There are plenty of shopping and eating outlets within close proximity.
The beaches too are not as crowded as the ones below Lion's head... This makes the beaches ideal for families with small children. They can run around the beach without getting lost in the crowd.
Parking is generally not an issue whether at the beach or shopping centres.
The only major thing that takes getting used to is the strong wind and the attendant dusty conditions.
Andrew Mukuze South Africa
Windy but good - Lovely clean area. Whales have been spotted, albeit cold water! A good view of Robben Island too.
There are lots of watering holes and good restaurants in Bloubergrant to choose from - and something for everyone. The beaches get pretty crowded sometimes, so parking could be a problem. Bloubergrant is known for the wind - so be warned. but excellent for kite surfing and fantastic to watch too.
Suburb of Atlantic Seaboard South
Hout Bay - Beautiful, quiet, relaxing, yet also vibey and interesting, not too far from other towns and places of interest and the the view of the bay from Chapmans peak is indescribable.
Deon Landsberg South Africa
Bloubergstrand - Good view of the mountain and wonderful to see the kite surfers. Seems to be very peaceful and laid back.

Old part of Cape Town - Observatory is an old part of Cape Town and is a bit dodgy compared to other suburbs. I would not recommend Observatory as a tourist destination.
Rudolph de Kock South Africa
Ideal - As ex Capetonians we like to use our annual vacation to visit Cape Town, but also need it to be a holiday. Melkbosstrand is ideal as it is not too far from the city but it’s far enough to have a small town feel. It has the convenience of shopping centres nearby, great restaurants with spectacular views and beaches straight out of your dreams.

Ottery History - Having lived in Cape Town for many years, I know the cultural diversity that makes up Ottery. Ottery is a multicultural area that comprises a range of homes from low budget to architectural masterpieces. Very poor and very wealthy people both occupy this area. The area is part of the 'Cape Flats' that was designated by the previous regime.

On Simonstown... - Simonstown is a place to slow down, relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. It offers a much quieter setting to return to after exploring the nearby towns.
Sanlia Marais South Africa
Away from the crowds - Bergvliet is well situated as it is easy to get onto the highway either to go to Cape Town or the Indian Ocean beaches such as Muizenberg or Fish Hoek. It is not overcrowded like Claremont, but still has both basic and interesting shops. There are many restaurants giving you friendly local hospitality. It is also not far from Hout Bay. There is plenty of parking at the shops.
Lilo Anderson South Africa
Stunning view - The best thing about Bloubergstrand is the view of table mountain and of course kitesurfing. Some great pubs to visit as well like Doodles and some of the best steak can be found at the Cattle Baron in the Blue Waters Centre.

Strand - a good central place - Strand is a beautiful little beach town that is central to the wine routes, a few have to see towns. The beach is beautiful and the water isn't freezing. The only downside it is very windy there.

Do the Clarence Drive from Strand - Just around the corner is the start for the fantastic Clarence Drive (R44) towards Betty's Bay and Kleinmond. Enjoy the view over False Bay from the Mountain Road up to the Steenbras Dam. A must see and a perfect picnic spot high up in the sky.
