Arolela, meaning 'sharing', is a guest farm in Caledon, which coexists with a working farm that produces wheat, barley, oats and sheep.
Guest accommodation is in the form of two revamped farmhouses named De Vlei and Klipfontein. Both houses have wooden floors and warm décor. De Vlei is 5 km away from Klipfontein. De Vlei can sleep seven guests while Klipfontein can sleep 13 guests. The setting is typical Overberg with lots of blue crane birds. The view alternates between canola yellow, brown and luminous green, depending on the season.
Although the accommodation is self-catering, guests can select the level of catering. Our kitchen personnel can prepare traditional 'boerekos' with meat produced on the farm, or guests can supply the ingredients to be prepared. Other services such as cleaning, nanny and laundry services are also available on request. All kitchens are well equipped and emphasis is placed on hygiene and cleanliness. Only white or cream bedding of the highest quality are used.
Not only does Arolela serve as a useful base from which to visit the surrounding area and coastline, it also provides a safe environment where kids can play freely and adults can escape from day-to-day life. The farm is only one hour away from Cape Town, 14 km from Botriver, 18 km from Caledon and 45 km from both Hermanus and Greyton.
