Most folk venture onto the Breede River for a relaxing paddle followed by generous sampling of the fruits of the Breede River Wine Valley. The 2008 Breede River Marathon fields a large field of top local and up country competitors held on the 75 km of the Breede River between the towns of Robertson and Swellendam. The canoe marathon usually sees 250 paddlers as they take on not only the 75 km's of the Breede River, but also the many obstacles they will have to overcome.
