Description
Get to Bloemfontein for a big jol at the Volksblad Kunstefees! This year’s Afrikaans art festival promises a huge feast of shows and events.
On offer are at least 25 brand new productions in addition to the usual cream of the crop performances from other festivals. Seven plays, two dance shows, four music theatre productions, five classical music concerts, five contemporary music performances, as well as an Afrikaans movie, the Kanna winner ‘Meisie’ will keep audiences enthralled this winter.
One of the biggest highlights of the festival is André P. Brink’s translation of the Eugene O’Neill play, ’n Lang dagreis na die nag. Directed by the flamboyant Marthinus Basson, the play stars Marius Weyers and Kanna winners Antoinette Kellerman and Stian Bam.
And to top it all, singer-songwriter David Kramer will amuse everyone with one of his rare stage performances. He will be singing some of his famous hits as well as songs from his new CD, Hemel en Aarde.
