Tracey Lourens from Etango Game Lodge in the Waterberg sent
us this little snippet about a baby
ground squirrel.
This delightful baby squirrel came into our lives when he
was ousted from his nest. He was weak and badly dehydrated.
Alne took him under her capable wing and raised
him using a bottle and Ideal Milk! She called him "Koos" - a
name we all strongly objected to as a baby squirrel should be called something
cute such as "Chippy" or "Nutkin" etc. Despite our
collective protests, "Koos" he remained and now 10 days later
with Alne having had many sleepless nights, we are pleased to report that
he is happy, healthy and starting to behave badly as all young squirrels do.
