White River (54 km from Barberton) The White River Motor Museum is a must do for petrol heads visiting the White River area. It forms part of the White River Local History Museum situated at Casterbridge Centre just outside White River.
Here automobile buffs can ogle over 60 vehicles including the ’horseless carriage’ and other elegant designs from a bygone era. These include the Willys Overland, the Swift and the celebrated Model T Ford. Major draw cards are the 1929 Austin Seven, various MGs and the 1936 Jaguar SS100.

Hazyview (88.2 km from Barberton) Visit the ruins of a 19th century trading post established by the famous Portuguese trader, Joao Albasini at the new Phabeni Gate, 10 km from Hazyview.
For centuries prolific trading activity has taken place in the southeastern region of Africa. Maputo (formerly Lourenco Marques) would have been the starting and end point for many of the old trading routes that crisscrossed the southern continent.
Albasini set up a network of trading routes that reached the Lowveld. By 1845, he had established a trading post at Magashula’s Kraal, now known as Albasini Ruins.

Lydenburg (98.8 km from Barberton) The Lydenburg Museum focuses on the cultural, archaeological and ethnographic history of the Pedi area. The museum’s current location is in the Gustav Klingbiel Nature Reserve, home to a variety of indigenous antelope, small mammals and birds of the typical grasslands habitat.
The museum features excellent exhibits of early human occupation of the area, the most notable being the Lydenburg Heads. Other displays feature early gold mining and military history along with many cultural exhibits.
