We went here as an afterthought – a quick stopover from the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. After visiting the Kalahari, other places could seem rather dull. Not so with this park. The roaring falls and dramatic gorge of the Gariep River slicing through the arid stonescape deliver a phenomenal sensory experience. Sit and luxuriate in your own company, bathed in mist from the falls. It's worth spending time exploring this scenic semi-desert – and checking out Moon Rock.
