The Umzinyathi Canoe Club invites you to take part in the 2008 House of Paint 50 Miler which is the Paddler’s Race and Seeding Race No. 2 for the Hansa Powerade Dusi 2009. This year is going to be explosive with a host of new and exciting details to make this event fun event for the whole family.

Prize money for this year amounts to a generous R50 000 sponsored by House of Paint. Prizes in all K1 categories depend on sufficient entries. Here are some of the exciting prizes: The House of Paint Hot Mile spot prize of R500 will be awarded to the first K1 man and woman to pass through the hot mile of Gumtree, Tombi and Hippo. In order to claim this prize the paddlers must finish in the top 10 for the men and top 5 for the women. Any paddler spotted taking on the House of Paint Hot Mile will be entered into a draw for a helicopter flip. Relax at the end of the first day at the House of Paint Heaven so keep a watch out for further details of this at the upcoming 50 Miler Dice Series at Umzinyathi Canoe Club (Shongweni) on the following days: 19 November, 26 November & 3 December.

Get your face tattooed and stand a chance to win a helicopter flip in the House of Paint / ChemSpec helicopter. The route for the 50 Miler has also changed and is set to be more challenging for canoeists. Paddlers can look forward to the exciting challenges of Ngumeni portage as well as the notorious Gumtree, Tombi Hippo rapids now forming part of the House of Paint Hot Mile, followed by Marriot and Big Ben rapids to top it all. The race will start below Marion Foley Causeway and as such the route will no longer include Mission, Finger Neck, Bell, Confluence and Washing Machine.
