Enjoy the tranquility of the African bush on your own terms and agenda, camping in comfort. Situated within a malaria-free area in the Easter Cape, TiPi Bush Camp prides itself on being an environmentally friendly, eco-tourist destination and offers a unique setting in the Addo Afrique estate game reserve, bordering the Addo Elephant National Park.

Accommodation is offered in three large 6.3 m diametre TiPi's, based on the American Indian-style. Each can accommodate up to four people on a self-catering basis; all you need to bring is your food, toiletries and clothing. Don't forget your drinks, cameras and binoculars.

Included in each TiPi are bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery, sink, cleaning equipment, twin gas cooker, gas fridge, double bed and double sleeper couch. The sleeper couch separates to two single beds if required.

Neat ablutions in close proximity to the TiPi's provide glass showers with hot and cold water, hand wash basins, flushing toilets and communal sinks. All hot water and lighting is by solar, there is no electricity on the site.

Each TiPi is secluded and offers beautiful panoramic views over a valley teeming with game. For the energetic, there are numerous walks within Addo Afrique, where you may roam un-escorted through a wide variety of non-predatory game like ostrich, giraffe, kudu, eland, bushbuck, nyala and impala.

Fuel and shopping facilities are found at Patterson 8 km to the east, and Addo village 28 km to the west. The main gate to the Addo Elephant National Park is 15 km to the west. Be lulled to sleep with the sounds of the night bush and the call of the far away jackal packs serenading each other. Awake to the frenzied bird life at the crack of dawn while the morning mist lies low in the valley.

TiPi Bush Camp is the ideal place to be introduced or re-united with nature and launch a variety of adventures within the Addo region.

Luxury fully-equipped chalets along the river. Sleeps two to five people. Four thatch and mud huts with two hot shower/toilets and a fully-equipped ' Lapa ' (Kitchen) alongside the river where there is an abundance of fish and birdlife. Plenty of scenic walks through the citrus orchards, and canoeing on the river , which is inclusive of the price.

A path leads down from the lush garden to a small bush camp overlooking the river where two wooden cabins nestle in a sheltered clearing. We now have a new chalet on this site.

They share a hot shower/toilet and a fully equipped 'Lapa'. The camp leads out onto a deck that looks out over the river and mountains. A great place for sundowners.

We also have access to a private game lodge at R1400 per person per day, which includes dinner, drinks and breakfast and a night and morning game drive. The wildlife includes Lions, Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes and several Antelope

Although our rates are per unit on the site we do welcome singles and couples to enquire about better options. Our self-catering units are not serviced, except by prior arrangement. Units not being serviced, except by arrangement. We also cater for backpackers.

The Green Tree Guest Cottages is situated on a working dairy farm, centrally situated to the Addo Elephant Park with magnificent elephants to see, Schotia Safari’s where you get up close and personal with the lions and Big 5, Amakhala Game Reserve, the Frontier Country filled with history and the beautiful unspoilt beaches and moving sand dunes of the Sunshine Coast.

All four cottages are spacious, beautifully decorated, all with own entrances, private patios and barbecue facilities. The cottages are tastefully furnished with Cape cottage furniture and a hint of Africa, with rich earthy colours, to create a tasteful Southern African interior which exudes the warmth that only farm life can offer. The cottages are serviced once daily from 10 am onward. Regret no laundry service.

Self-catering guests can get wood on the farm should they wish to braai. All other produce can be bought in Port Elizabeth which will have your wider variety when it comes to fresh produce. The Spar grocery store at Colchester (26 km from The Green Tree), also on your way, is also a possible stop, but with a smaller variety of things to get. Colchester also has a cosy restaurant, which is renowned for its steaks. The Nanaga Farmstall is also close by, with a day restaurant that is good for breakfast and lunches. Homemade bakes and family size pies can also be bought there. The restaurant in the Addo Elephant park also supplies meals daily.

Your first impression as a guest will be the stunning views over the pond and U'fumene's vast floodplains. Your bedroom will be spacious, with en-suite changing rooms and bathrooms. You will live in a lodge decorated with rich antiques and fine art from Europe, Asia and Africa. Lodge life mostly happens on the large covered veranda, furnished with sofas, chairs and tables, and a summer kitchen and dining area. A refreshing swim in the pool is only a few steps away. On cold days, life moves indoors to the open-plan hall that includes a kitchen, dining room and lounge with an open fireplace.

You will be able to keep in touch with the outside world via cell phone and wireless Internet, with English language TV channels available to follow the news and major sporting events. As for entertainment, we have a large library of books and movies for guests' use.

Most of our meat and produce for the kitchen is fresh and organically raised at the farm. Depending on the season, menu items for the day are set jointly with the guests. You can choose hearty South African cuisine or one our speciality dishes from Austria, France, Italy, Singapore, India, or simply have a relaxed braai.

We raise cows, sheep, chickens and wonderful game birds. We grow vegetables and fruit in the orchard and hay as fodder for our livestock. The routines of planting, raising, feeding, harvesting and processing our produce provides plenty of interesting things to do or learn; there are horses to groom, chickens to feed, eggs to collect, and fish to catch in the pond.

Horse-back and donkey cart rides, night and game drives, picnics on the high plains and many more activities can be easily arranged. Of course, you can always relax with a good book and music on the pool or alongside the lake or challenge us to a game of boules, darts or fun table games.

Meditate on the past and future in a special room dedicated to fully experiencing the incredible peace and quiet of the place. In the evening guests can play some snooker and games.

Fully researched history is available as are self-guided walks of some of the rich medicinal flora of the region. Ramble through 1000 acres of biodiversity and enjoy the 200 species of birds recorded in the area, plus small mammals and kudu. Guests can also visit the historic graveyard.
