I took my wife and two young grandchildren to Goblins Cove for lunch on Sunday 12th August 2012. A magical setting stunning art and ambience. Sadly the dining experience did not match the surroundings.
Having waited for service for half an hour, I walked into the garden to find the waiter sunning himself and talking on the cellpphone. I persuaded him to take our order. The menu offered starters and a main course for R180 or a main course and dessert for R160. My wife opted for seafood soup and lamb shank and I chose chicken curry and malva pudding.
The soup arrived and could only be described as a sludgy solids mess. There was no soup spoon provided and again the waiter had to be called to try and bring us a spoon. This he did after some delay which meant that by the time my wife started trying to eat the so called soup it had congealed even further. In hindsight she probably would have been better off trying to attack the soup with the fork provided!
My chicken curry was really a joke. It comprised two tablespoons of curry blaced in a hollowed out bread roll. The basmati rice was soggy and the roasted vegetables simply horrific. Though hungry, the bulk of the serving went back to the kitchen untouched!
The lambshank was very ordinary served again with an apology for roast vegetables. Eventually the malva pudding was served and was the only part of the meal that was acceptable. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There is simply no supervision or attention to detail and the food is totally overpriced.
