Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve promise a memorable experience. A number of hiking trails traverse the reserve and the area boasts a unique mixture of indigenous fauna and flora. Hogsback
Kings Lodge in Hogsback is a fairytale holiday destination - an enchanting, beautiful and tranquil place that begs exploration. The village is magnificently located on the slopes of the Amathole Mountains. It overlooks the rivers and fertile plains of the Tyume Valley in a region dominated by three ridges said to resemble the bristles on a hog's back.
Hogsback is famous for its hiking and mountain trails. There are simple forest paths that are easy to navigate and will only take you a few hours. Then there is also one of the country's most celebrated hikes, the Amathole Trail. It starts in King Williams Town and ends in Hogsback. The trail features an abundance of waterfalls and mountain pools, and the spectacular indigenous forests of the Auckland Nature Reserve, where bird life is plentiful. The trail is just over 100Km and takes 6 days to complete.
In winter, Hogsback is often blanketed with snow, and that's when it's time to kick back and cosy up in front of a roaring log fire or to take a brisk walk in the clear, bracing air.
Other activities include first-rate birding, climbing, swimming, abseiling, mountain biking, 4x4 trails, and horse riding. Enjoy bowls and swimming on our premises. Visit the Ecology Shrine, follow marked hiking trails, and meet local artists and crafts people.
