Broederstroom is a wonderful getaway so close to Joburg but it feels like you're far away. There is so much to see and do and it is culturally rewarding.

As Joburgers, my husband and I are always looking for quick escapes from the city and Broederstroom is so close to Johannesburg. We love heading to Broederstroom, because it's a lovely small town, with wonderful people. We head out to the local shops for awesome treats, such as cheese, meats and vegetables. We also like hiking, going on game drives or just visiting the dam for a day out, there are tons of animal sanctuaries to visit too. We love eating out and Broederstroom has got some great restaurants from Italian to traditional african. There's also a Micro-brewery, The Ale House, which has a quaint little pub as well. There's also festivals and other markets, such as The Solstice festival, The Chameleon Village and The Lesedi Cultural Village. There's even Hot Air Balloon safaris. There's nothing you can't do in Broederstroom!

My stay at the Stonehouse Lodge in Broederstroom allowd me to experience breathtaking sights and absolute tranquility . With the Hartebeespoort Dam nearby I was able to partake in watersports and enjoy boat rides . I also made a lot of friends from other provinces and engaged in fruitful discussions around an evening braai . Definitely the place to go to .

The tranquility and sights at Broederstroom was breathtaking . At Stonehouse Lodge there were a diversity of people with different cultures and I enjoyed the Saturday evening with people form various race groups in our country also staying at the lodge . We could listen to lions roaring from a distance and enjoy a beer talking about every day life . I tink Broederstroom allowed me to form new friendships and better relationships

Broederstroom is the most multi holiday fun destination you can go to. We enjoyed the Van Galen's farm, the farmers market, hiking in the bush. So many option you have to go back to explore more. Quad biking, top bistro's, bush pubs to only mention. If you stay in the city Pretoria or Johannesburg a 45 minute drive is all that is needed to get to this fantastic littel town

I found that there's virtually everything you need as a traveller in this part of North West, from hiking, quad biking, great food establishments and accomodation to even watersports. No need to drive any further from here, because everything you need is within driving distance.

The area is very scenic and close enough to Johannesburg to make it feasible as a weekend getaway without too much driving involved. We attended the Solstice Beer Festival which was a huge success this year. This takes place annually early in June at the Irish Ale House. Plenty of information on the Internet. It is one of the best micro brewery festivals in the country in my opinion and was very well organized this year. Apart from delicious craft beer, excellent homemade curries etc. there was also good marshal arts demo's, Zulu dancing and live music. The singing around the campfires after nightfall and the miniature hot air balloons are a feature for those who stay on for the evening session.
