Very different from the well known Kruger National Park but also something new to experience! Lots of animals were seen and we were even so lucky to see the lions too!

If you’re nutty about elephants and have enormous staying power for endless hours of stalking them, Addo is the place. These herds originate here and are very relaxed around vehicles. Our self-guided drives were always rewarding. A large group blocked the road and the little ones clowned around us for over an hour. Another highlight was the nocturnal visits of noisy rhino at the main camp waterhole. The elevated viewpoint over Hapoor waterhole is a great spot for watching elephants and other animals.

Addo Elephant National Park offers excellent game viewing opportunities and the campsite and picnic spots are excellent. It can get a little crowded over the school holidays though. As it is only 716 km from Cape Town, it is also situated in a great location.
