Early every Easter Sunday a multitude of joggers gather in Newlands before the crack of the gun at 6am. The atmosphere is surreal and gets supercharged as eager runners start pounding the tarmac and endorphins kick in. The 56 km ultra marathon follows the incredibly scenic route around the Peninsula, over Chapman’s Peak, Hout Bay and Constantia Nek. There is also a half marathon (21 km) which starts at 06h00, the ultra usually starts at 06h20.
