You gotta pull into this, bro'
So, what's up in Bananaland? A six-day feast of epic new films at the Wavescape Surf Film Festival, proudly part of the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF). Don't miss this pre-festival event - a one-offpremiere of Shaun Tomson's "Bustin' Down the Door" which screens on Thursday 3 July at Nu Metro Pavilion. Tomson and other surfing stars will attend the special screening of Bustin' Down the Door.
"We exhibit wave riding in its many forms, from artistic eulogies to gritty documentaries about surfing in the Vietnam War; from big wave tow-ins at scary spot Aileens in Ireland to classic longboarding in two-foot Robertsport in Liberia; from the latest Shaun Tomson movie about the Free Ride generation to a documentary about the Zulu surf riders of Umzumbe.
Through the films Sharkwater and Shark Angels, Wavescapes affirms its stand against the slaughter of sharks and a commitment to reveal the sharkâs pivotal role in the future survival of not just the ocean, but possibly even the planet."
Need to know? Wavescapes launches on Sunday 27 July (special outdoor screening on Bay of Plenty Lawns) and runs at the KwaSuka Theatre from Monday 28 July to Friday 1 August. The full programme is available on www.cca.ukzn.ac.za or contact Centre for Creative Arts on 031-2602506.
